I've never really been to a famous beach. The only one I was at was a man made beach at the Girl Scout camp I lived at when worked there.

I have been to many beaches - I am a military brat, I live in Florida, and my favorite way to travel is by cruise ship. It is very hard to pick a "best" beach because they each have special memories to me. One of my favorite beaches is Lido Beach in Sarasota because it is a private white sand beach with very calm waves. My husband and I like to go at least once a year for a long weekend.

Wow, this question brings back a lot of memories...
What immediately came to mind on Day One of this giveaway hop-- and I haven't thought of anything to write about "instead"-- is the beach at Nice, France.
This was many years ago. It wasn't so much the beach per se, but rather the water. I don't think I'll ever forget that experience; I ~hope~ to never forget it!
I'd been living out of a car for several weeks with a fellow traveler, and things were very, very tense and stressful. One day as I was walking down to the water, I bought a couple of cheap kids' water/flotation toys. I'm not much for swimming (or for the beach in general, to be honest), but I went out as far as I could without passing the Swim Zone barrier. And I just... floated. I just drifted there, weightless. That feeling... it was incredible. And yet at the same time, it was such an intense ~absence~ of feeling. Of thought; of worry; of self, even. No tension. Simply nothingness. Just drifting, and being in the moment. And those colors! The color of the water.......
I don't get to travel anymore, due to $ constraints. But I'm so grateful to have been able to travel as much as I did, when I had the chance.

I've only ever been to one beach, the one I grew up on, Daytona Beach. There were 26 miles from Flagler Beach clear down to the Inlet by the Sea. Flagler had the coquina sand, the rest of the beach to the inlet was white sand. It was wonderful walking along the high tide mark looking for shells, sea beans, and sea glass, along with the occasional glass float that escaped some fisherman's net.

It was a beach in Florida, and I'm drawing a blank on the name. We watched sea turtles come in and lay eggs after dark. And, we snorkeled during the day.
